Notice Date: November 23, 2011

On Nov 16, 2011, BEZA Systems Integrity & Security (SiS) team learned of a zero-day vulnerability with BIND, a 3rd party software, that runs domain name resolution (ie DNS lookups). BIND is utilized by a vast majority of organizations across the Internet who began to report crashes interrupting service on BIND name servers. (source: ISC Security Vulnerability)

On Nov 21, 2011, ISC released a patch update which BEZA engineers have been testing since. Due to the severity of this vulnerability which is currently being actively utilized by malicious users on the Internet, we have scheduled an emergency one hour maintenance window on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 from 22:45 to 23:45 EST (GMT - 5:00).

During this window, we will also be performing minor software updates on a number of other BEZA services. The software updates will result in a brief interruption to services.

===========================================

Service Impact:

BEZA domain name resolution will continue to operate processing requests but at a degraded state while the update is being applied across all clusters (Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, etc.). A very brief outage will result from services restarting.

Software Update Information:

We will also be performing an update to a number of software which will result in a brief outage as the service(s) are restarting.

Impact To Customers:

  • BEZA Control Panel portal will be unavailable.

===========================================

We apologize for any inconvenience this emergency maintenance windows may cause. As always, we have scheduled this maintenance during off-peak hours to decrease the impact on all customers. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your continued support of BEZA.
